International Live Surgery Workshop

This workshop was a live surgical demonstration of cleft and craniofacial surgeries with particular emphasis on emerging techniques like Distraction Osteogenesis, together with scientific sessions & discussions on multidisciplinary management, long term results, genetics, speech, psychology, controversies & consensus.

In addition, scientific sessions in between the surgeries to utilise the four days efficiently. Two surgeries would take place simultaneously in a twin-bedded operating theatre, which was projected live in the conference room from where the participants could view the surgeries and interact with the operating surgeons through the moderator. Following this, the scientific session was held in the conference room.

The 1st International Workshop of the International Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation is an earnest attempt to bridge the chasm in technology between the developing and the developed countries.

My sincere thanks to my worthy colleagues who have donated their precious time and resources to operate on our children, rendered inoperable by the limitations in our technology and to teach our surgeons and students, their techniques that have triumphed over such inoperable deformities. We are obliged to the sponsors and supporters who have made this event possible and the Government of India for lending us the support.
